The function of the Environmental Review Committee (ERC) is to review public projects in accordance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) to determine whether a Mitigated Negative Declaration or an Environmental Impact Report is required. The evaluation is based on review of a project description and an environmental document (called an Initial Study).
The Environmental Review Committee is composed of six members:
Three from the Permit and Resource Management Department, representing various disciplines.
All County projects are considered by the Environmental Review Committee at meetings that are convened on an as-needed basis, and the public is welcome to attend and provide input on proposed projects.
